Welcome to the Farm

Hidden Acres Flower Farm began in 2020 when the world was upside down.

A 4-acre piece of property had come up for sale that bordered our established family home. The property was initially scheduled for development of yet another subdivision like so many others in the area had recently been done. Even though we were right in the middle of a challenging economic environment, we knew we couldn’t let that property fall into the hands of a developer. We did a lot of research on what we would do with the land if we were able to acquire it. The idea of flower farming became something we couldn’t ignore. It was different, it was unique, and it felt like the perfect fit for our family. Our children were young at the time and the desire to create a little sanctuary nestled amongst dense developments called to us. Doors opened up for us and after a lengthy rezoning process with our local city officials the land became ours.

Building the Farm

We had a ton of work to do clearing the land. It was severely overgrown and completely untouched. Many mature cottonwood and elm trees needed to be cut down, huge sage brush and tall grass were everywhere. That was just the beginning. Loads of gravel and topsoil were brought in by dump trucks, carving a layout of what the fields would be like. Soil samples that were run, much to our delight came back well balanced. Hundreds of feet of irrigation lines had to be installed. We did as much research as we could, read every book, sought out every resource in preparation for our first growing season. Gardening wasn’t new to us, but large-scale commercial farming is a completely different animal, and we had much to learn. Seeds and supplies were purchased, and we were off to the races for our first growing season in 2021!

Farming Techniques

Over the years we’ve made some changes in our farming techniques. Making all the mistakes and learning how to grow more efficiently. Years of experimenting with different products, styles of drip tape, row plastics, growing mediums, seed suppliers, tools, all of it has been a total trial and error experiment. Research and education only go so far before experience becomes the best teacher.

Why the name Hidden Acres?

What’s in a name?

Hidden Acres was born out of a natural “Ah-Ha!” moment. Our farm is one of the last remaining multiple acre parcels in the area. We are nestled amongst many new subdivisions and older establishments. You wouldn’t know the farm is here at the end of an inconspicuous dirt road, unless you’re looking for it. We are quite literally hidden in plain sight.

Thus, the name, “Hidden Acres” was born.

There is tremendous history in this little hidden cove that goes back generations. There are still several little old farmhouses built nearly 100 years ago (including our own) sprinkled around close by.  In today’s day and age that novelty isn’t lost on us. We are incredibly fortunate to get to live here and continue to grow the farm and business. Preserving that history and being good stewards to the land is incredibly important to us as the next generation here.

Our Flowers are fresher, safer and more beautiful!

We strive to grow our plants and flowers as organically as possible, prioritizing natural methods whenever we can. The use of harmful pesticides, harsh chemicals, and non-organic fertilizers is kept to an absolute minimum, if such substances are used at all. Our pollinator friends, the children who run in our fields, and our valued customers who choose to bring our beautiful flowers into their homes and event spaces can confidently count on receiving a safe and wholesome product that reflects our commitment to sustainability.

The Blooms

Our flowers are for sale to those in the floral design industry. We grow on a mass commercial scale, for the wholesale market. Unfortunately, we are not currently open to the public. If you’re looking for our blooms as a retail consumer, check out our social media for information on where you can find our flowers throughout the valley during the growing season.
